This new racing format aims to bring the key features of downhill mountain biking into a short head to head race. 4 riders start together and battle down a custom built course of berms, jumps, step ups and other testing features. The two fastest proceed to the next round until the ultimate winner is crowned.
The 4-X track at Nevis Range was established in 2002 when Fort William hosted their first ever World Cup. The track, which is located at the finish of the Downhill track, was considerably extended and upgraded for the 2003 World Cup. It is now a permanent feature of the Nevis Range mountain bike facility, which already includes the Off Beat Downhill track and the many miles of Forestry Commission tracks in the adjoining Leanachan Forest .
Access to the 4-X is available daily throughout
the year, however on occasions the track may be closed for
maintenance, or to prevent wet weather damage. We suggest
that if you have a long journey you contact
Nevis Range in advance to avoid disappointment.
