Mountain
biking is a hazardous sport and the downhill track at Nevis
Range is an International level race track with extremely
steep and difficult sections. Inexperienced cyclists will
find the descent hazardous and severe in places and are likely
to be forced to walk several sections.
- Riders must obey code of practice, signage
and instructions from Nevis Range or Forestry staff.
- The course may only be used during opening
times.
- Riding is only permitted on the approved
Downhill, 4-Cross and Witches Trail Cross Country trails.
Riding elsewhere on the mountain is prohibited due to environmental
and safety issues.
- Cycling is only permitted on the approved
downhill track and the associated cross-country forest trails.
Cycling anywhere else on the mountain is prohibited.
- Take care, there may be other users on
the track. Treat other riders, walkers and gondola users
with consideration. Walk bike to start of track from top
station. Forest roads cross the course in 3 places – watch
for vehicles.
- If stopping on course, please respect
other riders and leave the trail clear. Always allow faster
riders to pass.
- The downhill track ends at a sign, at the main forest
road immediately before the car park. Expect to meet other
users and slower riders here.
