We’d like to invite teachers & pupils to an exciting ‘Schools Day’ World Cup village visit on Friday 1st June 2018 from 9.30am. This event has been held yearly at Nevis Range since 2002. It’s a weekend of daredevil Downhill (DHI) Mountain Biking and exciting 4-Cross (4X) racing.
DHI is a high-speed descent down the Nevis Range course – a gruelling rock strewn ribbon of bike-smashing dirt that drops 525m in 2.8km. It’s rider against the clock – and the mountain. The current course record is 4 minutes 35 seconds.
4X is gladiatorial in format and epic in scale. As soon as the start gate drops the 4 riders are powering down the jumps, berms and drop-offs, searching for the winning line and the passing move that will get them to the finish line first.
The Schools Day comprises of a walk around the events village watch the teams get set up and begin their preparations for the exciting World Cup weekend then, take a trip on the Gondola and watch the world class riders take to the track for DHI and 4X training.
There is no charge to school children or teachers, we’ll provide a free Gondola ticket for all participants. I’ve attached a link to a form for completion if you are interested.
Nevis Range School Adventure Days are also a great destination for a school trip. These can include a trip in the Gondola, Tree Adventure, Zoomtrax, Mountain & Forest walks and Mountain Biking plus we can provide a wide variety of snacks/lunches & meals. Tree Adventure will be open and operating on Friday 1st June so, if you would like to add this activity onto your school visit for the day please get back in touch for session times/prices.
