The network of trails around Nevis Range known as “The Witches Trails” incorporates MTB trails to suit all abilities, from family friendly Blue Graded trails to the infamous Orange Fort William World Cup Track & Newly Graded Black Top Chief (formerly the Red Giant).

World Cup Track Downhill Track (Orange)

Experience the spills and thrills of the MTB World Cup track at Nevis Range! Opening from May-September this track has been home to the UCI MTB World Cup since 2002. From fast flowy sections to rock gardens this track has it all. Experienced riders only.

Top Chief (Black)

The Top Chief joined the Nevis Range trail network back in 2009 as the Red Giant and has been a riders favourite ever since. As of 2018 the Red Giant has been regraded as a Black and renamed the Top Chief. Open between April – October this Gondola access track is aimed at intermediate to experienced riders, with fast flowing board walks to rocky technical descents.

Orange Jump Lines

The 1 dot and 2 dot jump line are alternatives trails that run parallel to the WC Motorway track. Both dots require you to have jumping ability on a bike.

Blue Adder – Blue Graded

The blue adder is a locals favourite at Nevis Range! With some small jumps & flowy berms it’s this trail is fun for all abilities.

Voodoo – Blue Graded

The Voodoo Blue Graded is a perfect introduction to mountain biking trail. Voodoo has been regraded in 2018 to a Blue Graded trail, hard pack and flowy corners. It’s a great trail for any entry level bikers.

World Champs XC Route – Red Graded

Used for the 2007 XC MTB World Champs Route this route starts and ends at the base station. With some rocky descent & flowing berms this track is regularly maintained and lots of fun

Nevis Range Bike Hire

Bike Hire

In the summer months, Nevis Cycles provide Bike Hire onsite at Nevis Range. For 2018 opening dates and prices, along with information on where else you can hire bikes locally, click here.

Bike Wash Nevis Range

Bike wash

You’ll find the bike wash around the back of the Gondola base station building, en route to the bike entrance for gondola uplift. The bike wash is open during the summer months.

Coaching & Guiding

There are a number of local coaches and guides that can help you get to grips with the trails at Nevis Range. Coaching and guiding is run independently of Nevis Range. Please book with them directly.

Nevis Range Showers

Showers

Showers are located at the Gondola base station, at the back of the building, next to the bike entrance for the Gondola accessed trails.  Showers cost £1 for 3 minutes (new £1 coins are accepted). Please ask a member of staff at the ticket office if the showers are locked or if you need to exchange notes for £1 coins.

Nevis Range Toilets

Toilets

At the Gondola base station there are public toilets located by the main ticket office and in the Pinemarten Cafe Bar. There is a disabled toilet inside at the entrance to the Gondola. You can also find toilets at the Gondola top station, by the entrance to the Snowgoose Restaurant & Bar.

Nevis Range Carpark

Car parking

From 1st May 2018 – 31st October 2018 there’s a £3 charge for parking which can be paid at any of the 5 ‘Pay and Display’ ticket machines located around the car park. In the winter months (Nov-Apr) parking is free of charge. Season ticket holders or Lochaber residents can pick up a free parking permit at Ticket Office.
