Sunday 16 February, was the busiest day on the slopes in the past 10 years! We had almost 1700 skiers and snowboarders on the slopes, as well as 500 visitors enjoying sledging, building snow tunnels and igloos, as well as the wonderful views. The say was the most incredible sunny blue skies day, the snow cover was described as ‘wall-to-wall’ and the snow conditions were soft groomed snow giving excellent sliding. Average snow depths are thought to be 1.6 metres on the lower slopes, 4.5 metres on the upper slopes, with some deep gully areas estimated as being over 18m deep.
And all this when we were not even able to operate all of our lifts as the summit button is STILL burried in the snow! We got the lower mountain lifts along with the Quad chair and Warrens T bar open early in the day. Our wonderfully hard working hill team then continued to dig throughout the day and the Goose T bar finally opened late afternoon. As the weather was so awesome, we then ran the lifts until 5pm.
We hope you enjoyed Sunday as much as we did!
