Congratulations to Eilidh Johnstone and her family who won our Winter Warm Up Competition in collaboration with The Garrison Hotel and the Swazye Foundation. She won a 2-day Ski Experience at Nevis Range!!
Eilidh is 11 years old and was born very prematurely at 23 weeks and 4 days. She has Retinopathy of Prematurity, she is completely blind with no light perception.
Eilidh started skiing in 2016 and aspires to be a GB winter Paralympian one day. Eilidh’s guide wears a sound amplifier on his back and Eilidh follows the different sounds knowing when to turn left and right. Eilidh currently ski’s indoors once a month at Milton Keynes Snowzone. She would love the opportunity to ski in the mountains of Scotland and have the benefit of 2 day private ski lesson to help her improve on her parallel skiing.
Eilidh was nominated by her mum Rachel who said, “Eilidh is the most amazing child who has overcome so much in her life and is the most positive, happy, determined and enthusiastic little girl you could meet and this amazing opportunity would mean the world to her. She loves Scotland and wants to move to Edinburgh when she is older and open a coffee shop near Ratho to be near her Aunt and Uncle.”
We are very happy that this prize is going to such a deserving family! We can’t wait to meet Eilidh when she visits Nevis Range this season!
