Great news today as it has been announced that Scotland’s ski centres are to benefit from £5.5 million to upgrade existing infrastructure. Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise are providing 75% of the funding to upgrade tow lifts.
Improvements at Nevis Range will include the modernisation of the gondola electronics and communications system, as well as the construction of a more robust bridge to enhance one of our key ski runs. In addition there will be improvements made to the building that houses the top station and the installation of lightning protection to those ski lifts which are regularly damaged by lightning strikes. The funding will also free up resources to allow other smaller projects to take place that would otherwise not have happened.
Although much of the investment may be not visible to the public, the improvements will allow us to deliver a much more efficient service and reduce down time – an exciting project that will enhance the Nevis Range skier experience!
