The weekend of Sat 3 and Sun 4 May was the opening of the gondola access to the World Cup downhill trail and the newly named Red Giant red-graded cross crounty trail. Two cross country descents … green-graded Cats Eyes and blue graded Blue Adder had been completed only several weeks earlier and Saturday saw the start of weekend Vehicle Uplift to the start of these two descents.
Two races also coincided with the weekend … the Cycle Scotland Mini Downhill, a qualifier to the final held in June at the Mountain Bike World Cup as well as the West highland Wheelers Enduro, one of the final events in their first ever extremely successful week long Bike Festival.
Photographer Steven McKenna was on site on the Saturday to photograph all the riders on site and all the images in high resolution format have been uploaded to dropbox for riders to download as they choose. View the images.
Whoever was in charge of weather got it right this year … the sun shone on DJ Symondo’s tunes as Chef McFarlane kept everyone fuelled with delicious BBQ’ed beef and venison.
