Mountain weather can change rapidly, here are some helpful resources

The prevailing winds tend to affect the ski operations in differing ways and the following is provided as a general guide only:

  • South or southwesterly Winds – can affect lift operations.
  • North (northwest/ northeast) – do not usually cause any problems.
  • Southwesterly winds – we usually get what is forecast.
  • Westerly winds – can affect chairs.

Please note that extreme weather conditions can interfere with readings.  Different wind directions – even with seemingly lower wind speeds, can affect uplift.  It is always best to check the conditions in the daily Snow Report updates s for a more accurate picture of conditions and operations.

Onsite Weather Station at Tower 17 on the Gondola

This weather station is located on Tower 17 on the Gondola, approximately 600m above sea level at Nevis Range Ski Centre.  Please note that extreme weather conditions can interfere with readings also different directions even with seemingly lower wind speeds can affect uplift so it is always best to check conditions updates for a more accurate picture of operations.
